The MLB season just kicked off and it couldn’t be a more exciting time for players and fans alike. Every team gets a fresh start, with hopes of winning a division title, a pennant and even the World Series. Some players are getting familiar with new franchises, while other young players are taking on leadership roles. Fans begin to build up hope for their team’s success. New coaches are getting settled into new locations as they prepare to take on the young wave of players that have swept across the league. After how the 2016 season ended, the 2017 season is surely going to be a great one.
Heading into every season, there are many question marks that surround numerous teams. Questions on whether certain pitchers will have a break out year or will others have a bounce back year. Since 2012, fans are always wondering if they will see another player manage to pull off the Triple Crown. On top of that, there is always the home run record. All of these factors put together help create so much anticipation for upcoming baseball seasons.
After the 108-year drought in Chicago, the Cubs finally managed to bring home the World Series and raise a championship flag at Wrigley Stadium. With just about every member on their roster returning, the Cubs come in as a favorite to repeat as Champions.
Opposing them is the team in Boston. The other group that managed to break a long-standing curse. With the addition of Chris Sale to an already dominating pitching staff, people believe the Red Sox have what it takes to make a run for the title. After losing a legend in David Ortiz, the team looks for someone to step up and lead them to glory.
After an injury plagued season for the Mets pitching rotation, they look to bounce back and return to the Fall Classic. With a star-studded lineup, packed with power hitters, they look to crush long ball this season. Being two years removed from a poor outing in the World Series, look for the Mets to make a statement this year.
There’s another team in New York nicknamed the Bronx Bombers. After jumping ship last season and completely flipping their roster on its head, the Yankees look to make a push with a roster full of youngsters. A star developed for them in Gary Sanchez, as he looks to lead the team full of talented prospects and help get the Yanks back to the playoffs.
Altogether, this year in the MLB looks to be very promising. Excitement is already swirling as week 1 comes to a close. There have already been many outstanding performances. Many more are certain to come as players begin to get in the groove of the regular season. Baseball fans get amped; this year is going to be one for the ages!
